Sellers Checklist
 

EXPENSES

Prior to closing, your sales associate will go over the closing statement and review the expenses incurred per the purchase agreement.

LIENS

The title company will usually arrange for the discharge of any outstanding (if applicable) mortgage (first, second, third) and release any liens or encumbrances on the property.

PROPERTY TAXES

Unpaid taxes will be adjusted at closing on a per diem basis.

INSURANCE

Notify your homeowner’s insurance that your home is selling.

UTILITIES

Notify the utility company (electric, water, gas, sewer) to do a final reading on day before buyer takes possession. Give them the buyer’s name. The buyer will call to transfer into the buyer’s name.

TELEPHONE

Contact the telephone company that you will be moving.

CABLE TV

Contact cable TV or satellite company that you will be moving.

KEYS, ETC.

Bring house keys to closing if possession is at closing. Pertinent household information and warranties may be left at the house.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Contact the Postal Service to forward the mail. Also change the following: driver’s license, bank accounts, credit cards, insurance, and subscriptions.

SCHOOL

Arrange for student’s school records to be transferred.

MOVING COMPANY

Call early to reserve a moving van.

TRASH COLLECTION

Cancel collection or change address.

VOTER REGISTRATION
